Job Title: Grade 7-12 Assistant Principal/Athletic and Activities Director
Qualifications: Valid teaching certificate and Masters in Educational Administration or a
related field.
Responsible to: Grade 7-12 Principal and Superintendent
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, administer and keep a record of absences and discipline
- Coordinate all activities within the school
- Maintain standards of student behavior, which are respected by students and
- Supervise the operation, maintenance and use of school facilities within the regular school day, including all routine and special activities of the
- Establish and maintain an effective communication program, which will keep the staff, students and parents properly informed.
- Attain a climate conducive to the health, welfare and safety of all staff and
- Keep the principal and superintendent informed on important developments in the
- Supervise substitute teachers assigned to the
- Supervise school activities.
- Intervenes in occurrences of inappropriate behavior of students for the purpose of assisting students in modifying such behavior and developing successful interpersonal skills.
- Observe, counsel, motivate and direct the professional staff toward excellence in
- Plan and supervise the instructional schedule, including the programming and assignment of
- Clarify the teaching and related responsibilities assigned to each member of the instructional and supporting staff, including relationships between such staff, assuring that all position descriptions are
- Encourage and initiate continued improvement in curriculum and teaching methods in cooperation with district
- Monitor and evaluate the goals and objectives as outlined in the district Comprehensive School Improvement
- Maintain a philosophy of education and style of administration, which encourages participation on the part of staff
- Plan and submit annual budget needs for the total operation of the
- Review and recommend requisitions for instructional materials, supplies and equipment necessary for the most effective and cost efficient operation of the school
- Plan and conduct effective faculty
- Scheduling of all school events.
- Be willing to obtain a CDL License.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal and
- Supervise the athletic and extra-curricular clubs and activities
- Evaluate and personnel for coaching positions
- Assist the building principal in recommending personnel for coaching duties to the superintendent and board
- Hold meetings with the athletic and activities departments when appropriate
- Schedule all annual safety trainings of personnel and ensure the trainings are attended
- Recommend purchase of equipment and supplies
- Maintenance and control all funds generated by student activities, clubs, and Organizations
- Serve as a district representative for:
- Scheduling officials
- Contracting contests
- Enforcing MSHSAA regulations
- Scheduling activity transportation
- Serve as a tournament manager
- Schedule non-school facilities for events
- Booster clubs
- Athletic event duties:
- Release of event publicity
- Assist in supervising activities, home and away
- Schedule pre-game and half-time activities
- Assign staff to activity duties
- Prepare programs
- Direct visiting teams and officials to dressing areas
- Arrange medical services
- Print and distribute schedules
- Arrange any needed event security
